Clean Your Device For 2013
Spruce up your smartphone with
these handy tips
2013 has finally arrived which also means that a bunch of new mobile devices are soon to arrive. However, not all of us can afford to dump our old devices which has probably gathered a ton of digital clutter; so here are some tips to save money and make “old faithful” feel brand new from Opera Software, makers of the Opera web browser.
Back up your data.
If your device is running out of space to save pictures, music and other files, upload them to the cloud or copy everything to an external hard drive.
Give unused apps the flick.
Delete apps you don’t need and are just sitting there taking up space and making
it harder to find apps you do use on daily basis.
Get a smart browser.
The Opera Mini app shrinks data to as little as 10% of its original size before it lands on your phone. This not only speeds up the web on your phone but also saves you a great deal of time, money and battery life.
Delete cache files.
Apps and browsers create
temporary files that take up space and memory. Apps like Easy Cache Cleaner are great help as they scan your device and allow you to clear out the cache files.
Clean up your message inbox.
Get a new start for the new year. Delete all those unwanted messages you are never going to read again to free up space. It only takes a few seconds.
Ditch unknown contacts
If you can’t figure out who that person is in your phonebook, chances are you won’t contact them, so delete them. Also, check for duplicates on your address book, as syncing from different sources can cause doubles.
Last but not least, Save Power
If your device drains a lot of battery, close apps you aren’t using, turn the mobile data from 3G to 2G or turn Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth off, lower brightness on your screen and turn the keyboard haptics/clicks off.
