The Mozilla Foundation recently announced the first large-scale
update for Firefox OS, its mobile operating system. New devices are expected to
be delivered in parallel with version 1.1. Smartphones using the open-source
operating system are particularly popular in developing countries. The update
offers several improvements in performance, and boasts features that Android
and iOS have been providing for quite some time, such as push-notifications.
Versions 1.2 and 1.3 should be here soon, and LG and Sony are planning to build
smartphones featuring Firefox OS in 2014.
