DDR4-RAM has a bigger capacity and a lower operating voltage, it
is also clocked higher than the current memory modules. But next year we will
witness an increase in efficiency: Micron will start mass producing its Hybrid
Memory Cube, which, like the V-Nand, stacks the memory layers. This enables it
to achieve higher speeds at lower energy consumption. However, the PC
architecture needs to be modified for home computers and there is little chance
that this would be done before 2016.
